ORDINANCE NO. 26=U
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING SEWARD CITY CODE
SECTION 15.10.215 A. TO PROVIDE AN OFF STREET PARKING
EXCEPTION IN THE HARBOR COMMERCIAL DISTRICT
WHEREAS, in response to a budget shortfall, Ordinance No. 94-17 created a parking
assessment fee for harbor area businesses and removed the Harbor Commercial (He) District off
street parking requirement exception; and
WHEREAS, recently enacted Ordinance No. 96-06 repealed the parking assessment fee but
did not reinstate the parking requirement exceptions; and
WHEREAS, due to limited land and the requirement to provide off street parking, harbor
commercial business development has effectively been curtailed;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1. Seward City Code Section 15.10.215, Subsection A, is hereby amended to read
as follows:
15.10215 Parkinf:.
A. Except in the CB and the HC districts. there shall be provided
permanently maintained off-street parking for each principal business and each
marine charter business. It shall be the responsibility of the business owner or
marine charter business operator to provide and maintain said off-street parking in
accordance with this chapter continuously during the life of the business or the
operation of the marine charter business.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enactment.
ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, this
18th day of March, 1996.
