CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION 2003-29
A RESOI~UTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE AN OIL
COOLER, TWO AFTER-COOLERS, AND ASSOCIATED GASKETS AND
HARDWARE TO INSTALL THESE UNITS, FOR GENERATOR #5 AT THE
FT. RAYMOND SUBSTATION, FOR A TOTAL COST, INCLUDING
SHIPPING, OF $12,083.56
WHEREAS, the oil temperature of Generator #5 is exceeding normal limits due to a
malfunctioning oil cooler, and
WHEREAS, our mechanics have advised the administration that it is necessary to replace
the oil cooler and two after-coolers in order to solve this problem; and
WHEREAS, we have received two quotes for the hardware, both from authorized EMD
dealers, which arc within $6.58 of each other; and
WHEREAS, the total price for the oil cooler, two after-coolers, and the associated hardware
and gaskets for installation, including shipping, is $11,883.56.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to purchase an Oil Cooler, two after-coolers, and
the associated hardware and gaskets to install them, from Pacific Detroit Diesel for an amount not-
to-exceed $12,083.56, including shipping. These parts will be used on Generator #5.
Section 2. Funding for these parts is available in account 501-5100-5380.
Section 3. This resolution to take effect immediately.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council ofthe City of Seward, Alaska, this 24th
day of March, 2003.
