RESOLUTION 2003-31
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROPRIATING $8,000 FOR TRAVEL AND
EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH THE HIRING PROCESS AND
RECRUITMENT OF THE CITY MANAGER POSITION
WHEREAS, Council has been actively recruiting a person to fill the City Manager
position since the acceptance of Scott Janke's resignation December of 2002; and
WHEREAS, after 16 telephonic interviews, Council has decided to fly four candidates to
Seward for an interview; and
WHEREAS, since the City Manager resignation was an unforeseen issue during the
budgeting process, there was no money budgeted for this recruitment; and
WHEREAS, this appropriation would pay for such expenses as, airline travel
reimbursement, hotels, rental cars, receptions and catering, and meals; and
WHEREAS, early estimates are showing that this process will amount to about $2000
per candidate.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The Acting City Manager is authorized to appropriate funds in the amount
of$8,000 from the General Fund to the Mayor and Council Miscellaneous Expenses account
number 101-1110-5790 to pay expenses incurred due to this hiring process.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council ofthe City of Seward, Alaska, this
14th day of April, 2003.
