THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 833
A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE BASIC CONCEPT OF
A ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT WITH STATE FUNDS
WHEREAS, The State of Alaska has recently enacted legislation
which provides funds for Local Service Roads, and
WHEREAS, The State and the Borough have requested that pre-
liminary plans be submitted on August 2~, 1971, and
WHEREAS, only a small portion of road can be constructed or
improved with State funds available under the terms of the
legislation,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RE80L VED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA:
Section 1. That Diamond Boulevard in Forest Acres is
selected for tmprovement.
Section 2. That the improvement district will begin at
and include the intersection on Diamond Boulevard where it
meets Juniper Street and will continue along Diamond Boule-
vard.
Section 3. That the property benefitted shall bear 50%
of tne cost of road improvements and that the property owners
along the right-of-way of Diamond Boulevard shall petition the
City for the improvement and shall agree to pay 50'% of the
improvement cost, in the form of a special assessment.
Section 4. That the Special Assessment may be paid in
a single lump sum or may be paid over a ten (10) year period
with interest at the rate of eight (8) per centum on the un-
paid balance.
Section 5. That Diamond Boulevard will be improved only
as State funds are made available under the Local Service
Roads legislation, unless area residents petition for 100%
assessment for road improvements.
Section 6. That upon determination that this project is
not desired by the affected property owners, that the project
will be laid aside until 1972 when another route will be
selected.
This Resolution takes effect fmmediately upon passale
and approval by the City Council of the City of Seward,
Alaska.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COONCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, this 9th day of August, 1971.
