THE CITY OF SEWARD
RESOLUTION NO, 865
WHERAS, the illegitimate use of drugs has become a popular activity for
many of our nation's citizens, and
WHEREAS, this use is in practical defiance of local, state and federal
laws which prohibit such use, and
WHEREAS, there has been no viable program yet constructed or put into
effect which has caused a major alteration of behavior in this respect, and
WHEREAS, it has been comnon place for an addict to obtain illegal drugs
by resorting to crimes against the public, and
WHEREAS, it appears that positive action is long overdue and without such
action no reduction of the use of drugs will take place,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, that emphasis regarding the illegal use of drugs be centered on the
user of such drugs as well as prosecution for those apprehended using illegal
drugs in violation of existing laws.
This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon approval.
