THE CITY OF SEWARD
RESOLUTION NO, 866
WHEREAS, the continuing development of roads and highway systems within
the State has encouraged the use of motor vehicles, and
WHEREAS, the prudent use of motor vehicles requires that vehicle owners
and operators exercise constant supervision over the maintenance and re-
pair of any vehicle which uses the road system, and
WHEREAS, it has been noted that not every owner or operator satisfactorily
maintains the vehicles under their control, and
WHEREAS, lack of maintenance contributes to the possibility of accidents,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, that the Alaska State Legislature be requested to enact legislation
and fund an enforcement program which would require annual automotive safety
checks for any vehicle operated on the highway system of the State,
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be sent to the
Honorable William A. Egan, Governor, and Emery W. Chapple, Jr., Commissioner
of Public Safety.
This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon approval.
Passed and Approved this 27th day of November, 1972.
