RESOLUTION NO. 878
WHEPEAS, the State of Alaska has encouraged visitors
from all parts of the world to tour Alaska, and
lHEREAS, transportation is a major factor in bring-
ing visitors to the State, and
lHEREAS, the Alaska Marine Highway system serves a
vital role in serving the public) an~
"HEREAS) tne State of AlasI- a has announced its plan
to sell the M/V \:ICKERSHAM, and
WHEREAS) it ap,ears that this vessel can play an
important roJe in the future marine commerce activities of
Alaslla)
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council
of the City of Seward, Alaska, that the Honorable ldlliam
A. Egan, Governor, and the Department of Public VJorks be and
are hereby requested to reconsider the proposed sale of the
M/V ~'ICKERSHAM wi th the intention to see this vesel continue
serving the State's reside~ts and visitors.
