HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes1976-969 r- - l2-17~76ATTACHED TO AND MADE A PART OF THE MINUTES OF THE SEWARD CITY COUNCIL - PAGE 124 JES Jes VOLUME 17 CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 969 A RESOLUTION ACKNOWLEDGING AND RECOGNIZING PRINCE WILLIAM SOUND AQUACULTURE CORPORATION AS A REGIONAL NON-PROFIT CORPORATION AND URGING THE STATE OF ALASKA AND THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO GRANT TAX EXEMPT STATUS WHEREAS the City of Seward, Alaska, is located at the water's edge on the North Gulf of Alaska Coast and Resurrection Bay, and WHEREAS the economy of Seward is largely dependent on the salmon and crab fishery of the nearby waters, and WHEREAS the improvement and enhancement of the fishery is in the best interest of the entire region, and WHEREAS the City of Seward supports the concept, the formation and the operation of Prince William Sound Aquaculture Corporation in planning, constructing and operating salmon hatcheries in the public interest; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Seward acknowledges and recognizes that Prince William Sound Aquaculture Corporation is a regional non-profit corporation for the enhancement of fisheries in Prince William Sound, and The City of Seward urges the State of Alaska and the Federal Govern- ment to recognize Prince William Sound Aquaculture Corporation as a non-profit, public interest, regional corporation, and That the State of Alaska and the Federal Government of the United States grant tax exempt status, 501 (C) (3), to the Prince William Sound Aquaculture Corporation.
