CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 77-17
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH ASSEMBLY
RESCIND ITS ACTION AS SET FORTH IN RESOLUTION NO. 77-21
REGARDING THE SCHOOL BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 1977-78
WHEREAS, the future of this country lies in the hands of the
youth and we must do all we can to prepare the students of today for the
responsibilities and challenges of tomorrow by making available to them
the best educational opportunities possible, and
WHEREAS, the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly, at its meeting
of April 19, 1977, adopted Resolution No. 77-21 which set the amount for
the Borough school budget for fiscal year 1977-78 at $3,000,000, instead
of the ~4,537.803 as requested, and
WHEREAS, the Seward City Council feels that such a budget re-
duction was excessive;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
of Seward, Alaska, respectfully requesffi the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly
reconsider and rescind its action as set forth in Resolution No. 77-21; and,
at its meeting of May 17, 1977, when it considers the lawful ordinance which
will establish the school budget for the coming fiscal year, that it rein-
state the funds which it formerly removed.
