RESOLUTION 2003-57
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROVING AN EMPLOYMENT
AGREEMENT WITH PHILIP C. SHEALY FOR CITY MANAGER
SERVICES
WHEREAS, former City Manager W. Scott Janke resigned December 2002; and
WHEREAS, the Council has conducted public meetings, sixteen telephonic interviews,
and paid for five in-person interviews; and
WHEREAS, the Council called a special meeting and met in executive session on
Friday, April 25, 2003 at 8:30 pm; and
WHEREAS, following the executive session, Council voted to negotiate an
employment agreement for City Manager with Philip C. Sht:<aly; and
WHEREAS, Council appointed a committee of three to negotiate a contract; and
WHEREAS, negotiations have been completed and Philip C. Shealy has accepted the
City's offer of employment beginning June 15,2003 for an annual salary of$81,000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The employment agreement between the City of Seward and Philip C.
Shealy, attached and incorporated herein by reference, to provide city manager services to the
City for a three-year period beginning June 15,2003 is hereby APPROVED.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council ofthe City of Seward, Alaska, this
27th day of May 2003.
