CITY OF SE~ARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 81-54
A RESOLUTION SUPPO~TING THE FUNDING AND CONSTRUCTION
OF A NEW STUDENT SERVICE CENTER AND CLASSROOM
ADDITION AT THE ALASKA VOCATIONAL TECHNICAL
CENTER IN SEWARD
WHEREAS, the Alaska Vocational Technical Center
(AVTEC) has well established facilities in Seward, and
WHEREAS, AVTEC is serving up to 850 students
annually, and
WHEREAS, AVTEC plans to serve up to 1200 students
annually, and
WHEREAS, AVTEC has become a most important 9art of
Alaska's economic future, and
WHEREAS, AVTEC is assisting the Alaskan people to
become a working part of that economic future, and
WHEREAS, AVTEC has a need for $4,975,000 for the
construction of a new service center and a classroom addition.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLV~D BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SE"TARD, ALASKA, that the Department of Education
request funding in the 1982-83 State budget for the construction
of a new student service and classroom addition on the Alaska
Vocational Technical Center campus;
AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Alaska Legislature
is urged to support this funding.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWA?D, ALASKA, this 9 day of November , 1981.
