RESOLUTION NO. 81- 55
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA,
APPROVING A CONTRACT WITH R. PEARLSON, LTD.,
FOR CONSTRUCTION OF SHIPLIFT EQUIPMENT
WHEREAS, the City of Seward has contracted for the design of
a shiplift to be constructed at the Seward Marine Industrial Park, and
WHEREAS, on September 15, 1981, bid documents and specifications
were published and copies were sent to all known prospective bidders, and
WHEREAS, only one bidder has responded to the request for bids,
R. Pearlson, Ltd., and
WHEREAS, the response of that bidder contains two proposals, one
generally in conformance with the bid documents and specifications and a
second alternative which varies from the bid specifications and the bid
documents, and
WHEREAS, no other parties have expressed an interest in con-
structing a shiplift for the City of Seward,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, that
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Seward hereby autho-
rizes City Manager to contract with R. Pearlson, Ltd., for the construction
of shiplift equipment in accordance with the general plans and specifications
contained in the bid documents subject, however, to negotiation by the City
Manager with R. Pear~son, Ltd., over those items that vary from the bid
documents and specifications, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager, in the alternative,
is authorized to negotiate with R. Pearlson, Ltd., for a contract for the
construction of shiplift equipment on terms which may vary from the bid
documents or specifications, but in no event shall the price for such ship-
lift equipment exceed the sum of TWO MILLION THREE HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($2,350,000.00).
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, this 9 day of November , 1981.
