CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 82-42
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER OF THE CITY OF SEWARD TO PURCHASE A
HYDRAULIC BUCKET TRUCK FOR USE BY THE
ELECTRICAL UTILITY.
WHEREAS, with the upgrading of the existing Seward
utility, the existing equipment is not capable of servicing all
of the electric transmission lines if there is a breakdown in the
existing bucket truck, and
WHEREAS, the existing bucket truck is of venerable age
and is prone to mechanical failure, and
WHEREAS, a newer model bucket truck with more recent
safety features would be better utilized by the City and provide
economies in operation, and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has attended a manufacturers
convention and demonstration of electrical line equipment, and
WHEREAS, the pr ice for new hydraul ic bucke t trucks of
the type required by the City of Seward will in all probability
exceed $75,000.00, and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer did, on his trip to the
convention, contact numerous utilities and dealers, and
WHEREAS, the economy in the
depressed and affords the opportunity to
substantially reduced prices, and
Lower 48 states is
purchase equipment at
WHEREAS, the Ci ty Eng i neer has located a used bucke t
truck after comparing several used pieces of equipment from
various dealers in the Pacific northwest, and
WHEREAS, cascade Hydraulics and ptil~ty Service in Great
Fallis, Mont. ,has a used bucket truck of the type needed by the
Seward utility and has offered to sell the truck for $40,000.00,
which represents a substantial savings to the City, and
WHEREAS, Section 10-8(f) of the City Code provides that
the City Council may authorize purchase of used equipment in
order to achieve savings and economy.
NOW, THERE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:

Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to purchase a
used bu~ket truck for the City Utility at a price not to exceed
FORTY THOUSAND AND NO/lOOTHS DOLLARS ($40,000.00).
