CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO.l~~2__
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION
TO RECONSIDER PROPOSED CHANGES TO THEIR REPORTING REQUIREMENTS
WHEREAS, the Social Security Administration proposes sweep-
~ng changes to their regulations, and
WHEREAS, these proposed changes will change times to sub-
mit FICA contributions from (25) days after each quarter to a few days
after each month, and
WHEREAS, more frequent reporting will increase the number of
adjustments required and chance of error, and
WHEREAS, there is increased chance of late reports with new
reporting dates, and
WHEREAS, this change will generate additional administrative
costs, and
WHEREAS, a large part of city administrative costs are allev-
iated by Federal revenue sharing, and
WHEREAS, this new change will further reduce the ability of
local communities to become self-supporting, and increase their depend-
ence on Federal help;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, that the Social Security Administration is requested
to examine the impact that this change will create and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, members of Congress are respect-
fully urged to support S 1967 and HR 11659 which would continue the
current quarterly deposit system,
