CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION 2003-81
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ISSUE A REQUEST
FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES TO DEVELOP A DESIGN CONCEPT OF
A COMBINED SEWARD LIBRARY MUSEUM FACILITY AND
APPROPRIATE $18000 FROM THE GENERAL FUND FUND BALANCE
WHEREAS, Seward Community library has utilized all available space to house its
current collection and provide for its programs; and
WHEREAS, Seward Museum has utilized all available space for display, storage and
curation of current and future holdings; and
WHEREAS, the Seward library and museum facilities share collection resources,
activities and space; and
WHEREAS, a new Seward Library Museum facility was identified as a major project by
The Seward Legacy Committee; and
WHEREAS, the Downtown Development Committee has included a Seward Library
Museum in their future planning.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to issue a request for professional services
to develop a design concept for a Seward Library Museum facility.
Section 2. Funding in the amount of$18,OOO is hereby appropriated from the General
Fund fund balance, account no.lOl-0-3050, to the library department's contracted services
account no.101-1500-5390.
Section 3.
This resolution to take effect immediately.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this,
28th day of July, 2003.
