CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION 2003-88
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, ACCEPTING AND APPROPRIATING THE VOLUNTEER FIRE
ASSISTANCE GRANT AND AUTHORIZING THE MATCHING FUNDS
FROM THE FIRE DEPARTMENT (1220) AS BUDGETED IN 2003 FY IN
THE AMOUNT OF $1,169.14
WHEREAS, the Seward Fire Department applied for and was awarded a Volunteer Fire
Assistance (VFA) grant from the Department of Natural Resources, in the amountof$1,169.14; and
WHEREAS, the City is required to provide a fifty-percent cash match, which means the City
will have to spend a total of$I,169.14 in local funds as a condition ofthe grant; and
WHEREAS, the grant must be used for purchasing equipment as identified in the grant
application (Rigid rocker lug coupling, mounting bracket quick draft, Quick draft suction strainer,
Hard suction hose 3 inch, Feather Lite ball shut off valve, inline Eductor and Foam nozzle guardian
spot & mop) and no single piece can exceed $3,000.01; and
WHEREAS, these purchases will better equip the Seward Fire Department in maintaining its
goal of providing maximum protection possible to the lives and property ofthe citizens of Seward,
and to fulfill our commitment to the Department of Natural Resources through our mutual aid
agreement; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department will abide by the City purchasing policies and provide
local preference over outside vendors; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department has within their current budget, allotted the $1,169.14 to
be used as the matching funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA.
Section 1. Accepting the 2003 Volunteer Fire Assistance grant award totaling $1,169.14 and
placing the funds in the General Fund grant revenue account number 101-0000-4360-0030 and
appropriate $1,169.14 to the fire Department Small Tools and Equipment account 101-1220-5460-
0000-00004.
Section 2. This resolution will take effect immediately upon its adoption.
