CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION 2003-94
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, ACCEPTING A DENALI COMMISSION FEDERAL GRANT
ADMINISTERED BY THE STATE OF ALASKA DEPT. OF HEALTH AND
SOCIAL SERVICES IN THE AMOUNT OF $288,000, FOR THE PURCHASE
OF A REFURBISHED CT SCANNER, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS
WHEREAS, Providence Seward Medical and Care Center has been awarded a grant in
the amount 0[$288,000 from the Denali Commission federal grant program; and
WHEREAS, the grant will be utilized to purchase a refurbished CT Scanner and mobile
trailer; and
WHEREAS, the community will benefit from the hospital's ability to perform diagnostic
testing locally, thereby reducing the number of patients required to be transported to other
hospital facilities, increasing revenues to the local hospital, and keeping more patients in Seward
utilizing the hospital; and
WHEREAS, City of Seward will pass the funds through directly to the co-located
hospital facility for payment to the contractor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to accept a grant in the amount of $288,000
[rom the Denali Commission federal grant program administered by the State of Alaska
Department of Health and Human Services, to the Hospital CT Scanner grant account no. 890-
8905-4680-0100.
Section 2. Funds in the amount of $288,000 are hereby appropriated to pass-thru grant
account no. 890-8905-5998.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 25th
day of August 2003.
