Agenda Item: Approval for Purchase of Mobile Radio for Patrol Vehicle
______________________________________________________________________
BACKGROUND & JUSTIFICATION:
The City of Seward has purchased one model year 2004 Ford Crown Victoria patrol
vehicle. The vehicle needs to be equipped with a mobile radio. Over the years radios
have been salvaged from retired units. This year there are no radios available for the
new unit. The radios that are being used are approximately 8 to 10 years old and are in
need of replacement.
The Police Department has contacted Motorola Inc. and has been given an estimated
cost of $2454.20 for a new Motorola Astro Spectra Mobile Radio. This radio is capable
of being upgraded to operate on the ALMAR trunked radio system.
