HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd1997-003 I I I Sponsored by: Garzini Introduction Date: January 27 1997 Public Hearing Date: February 10 1997 CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA ORDINANCE NO. 97-03 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, ADOPTING THE 1994 UNIFORM FIRE CODE WITH CERTAIN EXCEPTIONS WHEREAS, on August 31, 1996, the State of Alaska formally adopted the 1994 Uniform Fire Code with certain exceptions; and WHEREAS, it is in the public interest for the City to follow suit in adopting this revised code; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA HEREBY ORDAINS that: Section 1. Seward City Code Section 9.15.110, Uniform Fire Code adopted, is hereby amended to read as follows: 9.15.110 Uniform Fire Code adopted. A. The 1994 edition of the Uniform Fire Code. Volumes I and II, and the Appendices listed in Subsection B. below, published by the International Conference of Building Officials and the Western Fire Chieft Association, is hereby designated and shall be known as the Seward Fire code, and shall constitute the laws of the city related to fire prevention. Although not published infull in this section, all of the provisions of the Uniform Fire eode cited above shall be and are hereby adopted by reference to the same extent as if set forth in fUll herein, except to the extent that the Uniform Fire Code is amended by or is in conflict with this code or any relevant ordinance later adopted, in which case the provisions of this code shall prevail B. The following amendments are made to the Uniform Fire Code, 1994 edition, in its application as the Seward Fire Code: 1. Article 9, Section 903.2, is hereby revised by amending the second sentence to read: When any portion of the facility or building protected is in excess of 250 feet (76,200 mm) from a water supply on a public street, as measured by an approved route around the exterior of the facility of building, on-site fire hydrants and mains capable of supplying the required fire flow shall be provided when required by the chief CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA ORDINANCE NO. 97-03 2. Article 10, Section 1006.2.5, Paragraph 2, first sentence, is revised to read as follows: Extinguishing systems shall be serviced at least every twelve months or after activation of the system. 3.
