RESOLUTION 99-002
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A GRANT
IN THE AMOUNT OF $27,393.44 FROM THE ALASKA HIGHWAY
SAFETY PLANNING AGENCY FOR HIGH RISK TRAFFIC SAFETY
ENFORCEMENT, APPROPRIATE $9,131.15 FROM THE GENERAL FUND,
FUND BALANCE AND AUTHORIZE EXPENDITURES TOTALING
$36,524.59 IN THE 1999 HIGH RISK TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT FUND
WHEREAS, the City of Seward has received a $27,393.44 grant from the Alaska Highway
Safety Planning Agency for the purpose of high risk traffic safety enforcement by the Police
Department; and
WHEREAS, this grant is for a 75% AHSPA, 25% City match; and
WHEREAS, the City's portion of the grant is $9,131.15, which must be paid to receive the
Alaska Highway Safety Planning Agency's portion ofthe grant; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department's budget is insufficient to cover the City's portion of
the grant;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Council authorized the City Manager to accept the Alaska Highway
Safety Planning Agency grant number PT 99-05-09 in the amount of$27 ,393.44 for use in high risk
traffic safety enforcement to account number~X2'~O~680-010"O:J appropriate $9,131.15 from the
General Fund fund balance, account numbetI61-000-0370-~and expend the total of
$36,524.59 in the 1999 High Risk Traffic En rcement project accdunt number ~-Jeee(-

Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 11th
day ofJanuary, 1999.
