HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd1995-003 I I I Sponsored by: Anderson & Crane Introduction Date: April 10. 1995 Public Hearing Date: April 24. 1995 Referred to Voters (Advisory Vote): October 3. 1995 Re\!ular Election Election Results: Failed to receive approval of voters Brought back to Council: October 23 1995 MOTION TO ENACT FAILED -- ALL PRESENT VOTED 'NO' CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA ORDINANCE NO. 95-03 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING SEWARD CITY CODE SECTION 2.10.015, ELECTION OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL, TO PROVIDE FOR DESIGNATED COUNCIL SEATS WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to establish a requirement that City Council seats be designated; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA HEREBY ORDAINS that: Section 1. Seward City Code Section 2.10.015 is here by amended to read as follows: 2.10.015 Election of mayor and council. A. The mayor shall be elected by direct vote of the qualified electors biannually in odd numbered years at the regular municipal election held on the first Tuesday of October of said year for a term of two years, holding office until his term has expired and his successor is elected and qualified. B. The council shall consist of six members elected at large to designated seats A, B, e, D, E and F. Three councilmembers shall be elected at the regular election, each to serve for a term of two years. Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enactment.
