RESOLUTION 99-018
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INCREASE
STAFFING WITHIN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT BY ONE DISPATCH
POSITION
WHEREAS, the Seward Police Department Dispatch section is in a situation nearing
meltdown; and
WHEREAS, there is currently minimum staffing with no overtime; and
WHEREAS, four dispatchers are currently covering for all the shifts, being refused leave,
and working six and seven day weeks; and
WHEREAS, even with another dispatcher, Seward Police Department will still have less
dispatchers than other communities on the Kenai Peninsula Borough; and
WHEREAS, funding will be provided from savings in overtime expenditures and from the
Electric Fund, there is no appropriation necessary for the remainder of fiscal year 1999.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. Council authorizes the City Manager to increase the staffing within the Police
Department by one dispatch position..
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 22 day
of February, 1999.
