RESOLUTION 99-019
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, APPROVING A FOUR PERCENT REDUCTION IN ELECTRIC
BILLS (BEFORE TAXES) FOR ALL CUSTOMER CLASSES EXCEPT
INDUSTRIAL SERVICE, STREET LIGHTS, AND YARD LIGHTS
EFFECTIVE FROM MARCH 1, 1999 THROUGH AUGUST 31, 1999
WHEREAS, in February 1998 the Council approved Resolution 98-010 approving the new
Chugach Electric Association Contract (CEA) and approving a 4% reduction in residential rates
pending completion of a rate study; and
WHEREAS, the Alaska Public Utilities Commission delayed approving a new contract with
CEA until September of 1998, when they granted an interim approval; and
WHEREAS, although there is a hearing scheduled before the APUC for March 23, 1999,
it will probably be several months before there is final approval of the new contract; and
WHEREAS, the Administration recommends a 4% residential discount for six months (until
August 31, 1999) to allow the City to finalize the contract and a rate study; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Council approves a 4% reduction in electric bills (before taxes) for all
customer classes except Industrial Service, Street Lights, and Yard Lights effective from March 1,
1999, through August 31, 1999.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 22 day
of February, 1999.
