RESOLUTION 99-034
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, APPROVING A USE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND
THE ALASKA VOCATIONAL TECHNICAL CENTER
WHEREAS, since April 1998, 8,700 visitors, $34,300 in revenues and 380 volunteer hours
have been recorded through the Sports and Recreation Division, largely within the Alaska Vocational
Technical Center [A VTEC] facility; and
WHEREAS, the facility provides a viable recreation site for the public in a variety of
programs including: roller skating, youth basketball leagues, youth and adult open gym, adult
basketball, wallyball, volleyball and racquetball leagues and programs, weight lifting, aerobics and
other special programs; and
WHEREAS, the City Parks and Recreation Department has been negotiating with the Alaska
Vocational Technical Center since June of 1998 to provide public use at the A VTEC Student
Services Center [SSC]; and
WHEREAS, the A VTEC student population, families of students, staff and faculty of
A VTEC and their families also benefit from various programs offered through the SSC; and
WHEREAS, the FY99 budget approved by the City Council reflects the program hours,
rental rates and projected uses set forth in the proposed new Use Agreement;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The Use Agreement between the City of Seward and the Alaska Vocational
Technical Center for the period ofJuly 1, 1998 through June 30, 1999, is hereby APPROVED.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 22nd
day of March, 1999.
