CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 99-045
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ASSUME RESPON-
SmILITY FROM THE STATE FIRE MARSHALL'S OFFICE TO INTER-
PRET AND ENFORCE THE UNIFORM CODES, REFERRING TO THE
REQUIREMENTS OF NON-STRUCTURAL PLAN REVIEW AND AP-
PROV AL, STOP ORDERS
WHEREAS, presently all commercial and multi-family construction plans must be submitted
by the owner or contractor to the City of Seward and the State Fire Marshall's Office for review and
a building permit; and
WHEREAS, each agency assesses a fee for the plan review and building permit; and
WHEREAS, this deferral would realize a cost savings to individuals investing in Seward and
substantially reduce the plan review time;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. Authorizing the City of Seward to request an exemption, 13AAC 50.075-
Deferring to Local Agencies, which will alIow the City of Seward to assume the responsibility from
the State Fire Marshall's Office to interpret and enforce the Uniform Codes, referring to the
requirements of 13AAC 50.027-Non-Structural Plan Review and Approval, Stop Orders.
Section 2. This resolution shalI take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 26 day
of April, 1 999.
