HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd1997-011 I I I 1\1111) IOHI I "J\( II J) Sponsored by: Garzini Introduction Date: April 14 1997 Public Hearing Date: Aoril28 1997 CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA ORDINANCE NO. 97-11 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING SEWARD CITY CODE TITLE 3, PERSONNEL, TO PROVIDE FOR CONTRACT EMPLOYEES WHEREAS, the City Code contains no provisions for long term contract employees other than those officers appointed by the City Council; and WHEREAS, it would be beneficial to the City to allow for certain employees to be hired as contract employees not subject to all of the terms and conditions of employment set forth in the Personnel Code (Title 3); NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA HEREBY ORDAINS that: Section 1. Seward City Code Section 3.01.020, Scope, Subsection A., is hereby amended to read as follows: 3.01.020 Scope. A. This title establishes policies and procedures of personnel administra- tionfor all officers and employees of the city other than elective officers, appointive officers. svecial contract emvlovees. and members of city boards and commissions. However, the provisions of this title may apply to an appointive officer or svecial contract emvlovee to the extent that they are incorporated by reference in the employment contract between the city and the appointive officer or svecial contract emvlovee. Section 2. Seward City Code Section 3.15.095, Insurance and medical benefits, Subsection B., is hereby amended to read as follows: 3.15.095 Insurance and medical benefits. B. The two appointive officers, city manager and city clerk, as well as svecial contract emvlovees if svecified in the emvlovment contract. shall also participate in group life and health programs. . . Section 3. Seward City Code Section 3.45.010, Annual leave entitlement, is hereby amended to read as follows: CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA ORDINANCE NO. 97-11 3.45.010 annual leave entitlement. Classified employees shall be entitled to leave accrual benefits. Leave provisions of these regulations are applicable to the appointive officers, city manager and city clerk, and to svecial contract emvlovees if svecified in the emvlovment contract. Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect ten{IO) days following its enactment. FAILED TO BE ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, this 28th day of April, 1997.
