RESOLUTION NO. 99-048
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AMENDING CITY OF SEWARD UTILITY TARIFFS RELATED
TO THE SALE OF "SHIP WATER" BY DECREASING WATER RATES
FROM $10.00/1000 GALLONS TO $4.25/1000 GALLONS
WHEREAS, in 1995 the rate for "ship water" was changed from $3.00/1000 gallons to
$10.00/1000 gallons; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that Seward's rate for "ship water" is the highest in
Alaska; and
WHEREAS, a rate study was conducted which determined that determined that the "break-
even" rate for "ship water" was approximately $4.20/1000 gallons and the rate which provides a
slight margin is $4.25/1 000 gallons; and
WHEREAS, the administration policy of promoting economic development within the City
of Seward by providing rates which encourage use of our facilities without adversely affecting our
other customers;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Council hereby amends the City of Seward Utility Tariffs relating to the
sale of "ship water" by decreasing water rates from $10.00/1 000 gallons to $4.25/1 000 gallons.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 26nd
day of April, 1999.
