RESOLUTION 99-121
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING AN INCREASE IN THE CONTRACT WITH
SUMMIT PAVING AND CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FROM $40,891.51
TO $90,000 TO COVER THE COST OF INSTALLING SIDEWALKS ON
FIFTH AVENUE AND MADISON STREET
WHEREAS, with Resolution 99-092, approved on July 12, 1999, the City Council
previously authorized a contract with Summit Paving and Construction Company for $40,891.51 for
fifteen ADA curb cuts; and
WHEREAS, with Resolution 99-1 0 1, approved on July 26, 1999, the City CounCil approved
the acceptance of a $34,564 grant from the State of Alaska which was matched with $6,389 oflocal
funds making an additional $40,953 available for ADA curb cuts and sidewalks in the City of
Seward; and
WHEREAS, with the addition of sidewalks on the East side of Fifth Avenue, bet,-,:een
Washington and Adams Streets; and on the South Side of Madison Str~et, from Fourth to Fifth
Avenue, for an additional cost of $52,300, the contractor is willingto eliminate $7;557 in
mobilization, de-mobilization and per-diem expenses from the original contract; and
WHEREAS, the total authorized value ofthe contract is not-to-exceeding $90,000, including
a 5% contingency:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to increase the amount of the contract with
Summit Paving and Construction Company from $40,891.51 to $90,000 to cover the cost of two
additional sidewalks which will be added to the project.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council ofthe city of Seward, Alaska, this 30 day
of August, 1999.
