RESOLUTION NO. 99-133
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A
CONTRACT WITH METCO, INC. TO INSTALL WATER, SEWER AND A
ROAD IN A PORTION OF OAK STREET, BETWEEN ASH AND HEM-
LOCK STREETS, AT A COST NOT-TO EXCEED $120,333
WHEREAS, on August 9, 1999, the City Council authorized the City Manager to form a
Special Improvement District for Lots BO, BR, BS, BW, BY, AND BZ Forest Acres to install a
road, sewer and electricity at a cost of approximately $17,570/10t ($122,933); and
WHEREAS, a request for proposal was issued for the sewer and road with a request for the
bidders to include a price for the installation of a water system although it is not part ofthe Special
Improvement District at this time; and
WHEREAS, the water line will be installed at this time although we are unable to use it until
the pressure problem is solved and therefore it is not a part ofthe Special Improvement District; and
WHEREAS, Metco, Inc. was the only bid received for the project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with Metco, Inc. to install
water, sewer and a road in a portion of Oak Street between Ash and Hemlock Street at a cost not-to-
exceed $120,333.
Section 2. The City Council appropriate $16,956 for the road from the General Fund f\md
balance, account no. 101-0000-3050 to the Forest Acres Subdivision Special Improvement District
(F ASSID) accounts no. 667-6670-5390/5580; appropriate $58,762 for the water installation from
the Water/Sewer Enterprise Fund retained earnings, account no.701~000Q-3070 to the FASSID
accounts no. 667-6671-5930/5580; appropriate $56,639 for the sewer installation from :the
Water/Sewer Enterprise Fund retained earnings, account no. 701-0000-3070 to the FASSID
accounts no, 667-6672-5390/5580; and appropriate $25,300 from the Electric Enterprise Fund
retained earnings, account no. 501-0000-3050 to the FASSID accounts no. 667-6673-5930/5580.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council ofthe City of Seward, Alaska, this 13 day
of September, 1999.
