RESOLUTION 99-134
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, APPROVING THE CITY MANAGER'S APPOINTMENT OF
MICHAEL CHAPMAN AS CHIEF OF POLICE
WHEREAS, the Chief of Police position was opened for recruitment within the City
employees and acting Chief of Police, Michael Chapman, applied for and has been offered the
position; and
WHEREAS, Section 2.20.015 of the City Code requires the City Manager's selection for
the Chief of Police position to receive approval from the City Council; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Chapman is qualified and an asset to the City's administrative team, the
Police Department, and the community; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Chapman has over 26 years of experience in law enforcement, with 18 of
those years in Seward; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Chapman has served as a DARE Officer, Patrol Officer, Corporal,
Investigator, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Acting Chief of Police:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. Council approves the City Manager's appointment of Michael Chapman as
Chief of Police effective September 14, 1999.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 13
day of September, 1999.
