CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 99-135
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A
LEASE AGREEMENT WITH DAN LOWRY FOR A PORTION OF LOT 2,
BLOCK 3, FOURTH OF JULY CREEK SUBDIVISION, SEWARD MARINE
INDUSTRIAL CENTER FOR THE PURPOSES OF OPERATING A MARINE
REPAIR BUSINESS.
WHEREAS, Dan Lowry has proposed a lease agreement with the City of Seward for a
portion of a tract of land in Block 3, Fourth of July Creek Subdivision, Seward Marine Industrial
Center for the purposes of operating a marine repair business; and
WHEREAS, the proposal came before the Planning and Zoning Commission at their
August 4t\ 1999 regular meeting and the Commission recommended unanimously to proceed
with the lease negotiations; and
WHEREAS, the Commission recommended a lease term of three to five years for Lot 2,
Block 3 and a baseline soils condition test; and
WHEREAS, this lease of raw land, without a requirement for capital investment, is in
the public interest by providing jobs for the community, lease and property tax' revenue and
business competition in the marine repair industry; and
WHEREAS, the proposed use is consistent with the Seward Marine Industrial Center'
Development Plan, the City's Comprehensive Development Plan and Strategic Plan;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a lease agreement with
Dan Lowry for a portion of Lot 2, Block 3, Fourth of July Creek Subdivision, Seward Marine
Industrial Center, for a term of three (3) years with the option to extend for three additional one
year terms.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect thirty (30) days after its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
27th day of September, 1999.
