RESOLUTION 2001-121
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH CRW ENGINEERING
GROUP TO PROVIDE DESIGN SERVICES FOR WATER AND SEWER
LINES TO SERVICE SEWARD SHIP'S ($62,029) AND REVIEW AND MAKE
RECOMMENDATIONS ON THE EPA PERMIT FOR THE LOWELL POINT
SEWAGE LAGOON ($1,680)
WHEREAS, the State of Alaska has provided a $1 million grant to the City of Seward for
improvements at Seward Ship's repair facility in the SMIC area; and,
WHEREAS, in order to allow construction of new buildings in the repair facility, certain
water and sewer improvements are necessary and need to be designed by a professional engineer
qualified in water/sewer design; and,
WHEREAS, CRW group has submitted a proposal to do this design for a cost of $62,029,
including a 5% contingency; and,
WHEREAS, CRW is well qualified to do this work since they have worked for several years
with the City of Seward on Water/Sewer design projects; and,
WHEREAS,CRW has also submitted a price to review and make recommendations regarding
the Lowell Point Sewage Lagoon permit which is being reviewed and modified by the EP A, at a cost
of$1,680.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a Professional Services Agreement
with CRW group to perform design services for water and sewer lines in the SMIC area, and to
review and make recommendations on the EP A revised permit for the Lowell Point Sewage Lagoon;
for a total cost of$63,709.
Section 2. Funding to be from Account 669-6690-5390, Shipyard Improvements, Contracted
Services for the SMIC design; and from the 2001 budget for the Lowell Point Sewage Lagoon Permit
reVIew.

Section 3. Resolution to take effect immediately upon adoption.
