RESOLUTION 99-136
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF LOT 25, BLOCK 16, OTS
FROM THE SEWARD VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR THE 1995
APPRAISED VALUE OF $27,000 FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSOLIDAT-
ING PROPERTY OWNERSHIP WITHIN THE CITY HALL/FIRE HALL
BUILDING CAMPUS
WHEREAS, the Seward Y olunteer Fire Department (SYFD), a non-profit organization, has
agreed to sell to the City of Seward Lot 25, Block 16, Original Townsite of Seward (OTS) for
$27,000; and
WHEREAS, the City's Municipal Lands Management Plan adopted in May of 1995
recommended that the City "acquire lots from volunteer fire department to consolidate property for
city hall/courthouse/public safety building campus"; and
WHEREAS, the SYFD has a desire to sell this property and given its location between other
City property, the purchase ofthis lot will consolidate the property ownership for the City rather than
have private ownership ofthis particular lot; and
WHEREAS, MacSwain Associates determined in 1995 that the appraised value of Lot 25,
Block 16, OTS was $27,000; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing meeting the requirements of Seward City Code 9 7.05.210 was
held on September 13, 1999.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to finaliz.e the ,purchase and aC'Gept a
Warranty Deed for Lot 25, Block 16, Original Townsite of Seward for the appraised value of
$27,000.
Section 2. Funding to purchase the lot will be provided from the Capital Acquisition Fund
monies designated for land sales and purchases, account no. 103-1031-5910.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect 30 days after passage and posting as required by
Seward City Code S 7.05.135.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 27th
day of September, 1999.
