CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 79-14
A RESOLUTION RELATING TO
SEWARD HIGHWAY CLOSURE
WHEREAS, on March 20, 1979 at Soldotna, Alaska a Special Economic
Force was appointed by the OEDP and,
WHEREAS, this Task Force was directed to research and prepare a
formal resolution concerning the hours of closure of the Seward Highway from
Mile 111.0 to 115.2 and,
WHEREAS, the Seward Highway is Seward's lifeline,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Seward City Council hereby
endorses the efforts of the Special Task Force and urges the action by the
engineer in charge of Project #HS-F-03l-2(44) to require the contractor,
Peter Kewitt & Son, to modify the road closure so that relatively steady
traffic will be maintained.
AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that an Extensive Economic Impact
Study be made of the detrimental affects of this closure on all business's
and people living South of this construction.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, this 27th day of March , 1979.
