CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 79-36
A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PROPOSED LAND
USE PLAN AS PREPARED BY
CH2M HILL ALASKA,INC.
WHEREAS, AS29.33.080 directs the Borough Planning
Commission to prepare and recommend to the Borough Assembly
a comprehensive plan consisting of maps and related texts
for the systematic development of the Borough; and
WHEREAS, AS29.33.085 directs that the Borough
Planning Commission shall undertake an overall review of the
comprehensive plan at least every two years and shall present
recommendations based on the review to the Assembly; and
IVHEREAS, the last comprehensive plan prepared for
the City of Seward is over ten years old; and
WHEREAS, this very outdated plan restricted the
changing needs and desires of the citizens of Seward, par-
ticularly the land use portion of the plan; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of this hardship, the
Borough Planning Department did contract with CH2M Hill
Alaska, Inc., to prepare a new land use plan for the City of
Seward; and
WHEREAS, CH2M Hill Alaska, Inc., did prepare such
plan; and
WHEREAS, the proposed plan has been developed in
cooperation with the Seward Advisory Planning and Zoning
Commission and residents of Seward; and
WHEREAS, the Seward Advisory Planning and Zoning
Commission has recommended the proposed plan to the City
Council for its approval; and

WHEREAS, the City Council did hold a public hearing
on July 23, 1979 on the proposed plan;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that the land use plan as pre-
pared by CH2M Hill Alaska, Inc., is approved; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Borough Planning
Commission is respectfully requested to review and recommend
the proposed land use plan to the Borough Assembly for adop-
tion.

OF SEWARD, ALASKA, this 13th day of August,1979.
