CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 94-033
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
INCREASE THE CONTRACT AMOUNT OF THE METCO, INC.,
AGREEMENT FOR SNOW PLOWING AND SANDING SERVICES
WHEREAS, on September 13, 1993, the City Council approved Resolution No. 93-
131. awarding a contract to METCG, Inc., for snow removal and sanding at Nash Road
for a contract amount not to exceed $20,000; and
WHEREAS, the snow fall received during the last two weeks demanded more
work than expected and required almost daily maintenance; and
WHEREAS, any lesser level of maintenance would have resulted in an
unacceptable risk to employees traveling to Spring Creek Correctional Center and the
ship repair facilities at the Seward Marine Industrial Center; and
WHEREAS, the approved contract amount for maintenance of Nash Road has
been exceeded as a result of the additional work required due to the heavy snow fall;
and
WHEREAS, funds are available in the Street Department budget to cover this
additional work;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The city manager is hereby authorized to increase the contract amount
of the METCG, Inc., agreement for snow plowing and sanding services at Nash Road
from $20,000 to $25,000.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
14th day of March, 1994.
