RESOLUTION NO. 94-046
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING A REQUEST FOR BIDS FOR
CONFINED SPACE ENTRY EQUIPMENT AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS
WHEREAS, state OSHA regulations require the city to conform to certain entry
permit, training and equipment standards; and
WHEREAS, city departments subject to the OSHA regulations have met the entry
permit system requirements and have just recently completed the required training
programs; and
WHEREAS, a confined space specialist has compiled a list of equipment required
to meet OSHA standards; and
WHEREAS, failure to acquire the necessary equipment will expose the city to
liability for failure to comply with OSHA regulations and will expose city employees to
unnecessary and substantial life safety hazards; and
WHEREAS, in order to reduce the cost of acquiring the needed equipment, the
Fire Department, Electric Department and Sewer Department will share the use of the
equipment and the cost of purchasing it;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The sum of $19,878 is hereby appropriated as follows:

RESOLUTION NO. 94-046
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to advertise a request for bids
for the purchase of the confined space entry equipment identified in the equipment list
attached and incorporated herein by reference.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
11th day of April, 1994.
