RESOLUTION NO. 94-054
A RESOLUTION OF TIlE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, ENDORSING SEWARD SHIP'S
DRYDOCK'S BUILDING FINANCING BY TIlE ALASKA
INDUSTRIAL DEVEWPMENT AND EXPORT AUTHORITY
WHEREAS, the city of Seward encourages economic development and marine industry
expansion in the community; and
WHEREAS, the city supports Seward Ship's Drydock's efforts to expand its business
at the Seward Marine Industrial Center; and
WHEREAS, Seward Ship's Drydock has proposed expanding its capabilities by installing
a 300-foot building in the Syncrolift rails at the Seward Marine Industrial Center; and
WHEREAS, this new facility will generate added valuable employment and economic
expansion in Seward; and
WHEREAS, Seward Ship's Drydock is seeking funding from the Alaska Industrial
Development and Export Authority; and
WHEREAS, in order for AIDEA to consider providing funding for the expansion of
Seward Ship's Drydock, AIDEA requires a resolution of support from the city of Seward;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY TIlE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The city of Seward supports Seward Ship's Drydock's efforts to construct a
300-foot structure for marine fabrication and repair.
Section 2. The city of Seward concurs in the location of the facility at the Seward
Marine Industrial Center on property already leased to Seward Ship's Drydock by the city of
Seward.
Section 3. The city of Seward considers Seward Ship's Drydock's marine fabrication
and repair service to be a useful and valuable service to the port of Seward, and the city
considers the proposed expansion to be a critical factor in the continued operation of said
service.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
