RESOLUTION NO. 94-077
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, ESTABLISHING LIABILITY INSURANCE POLICY LIMITS
FOR LEASES, PERMITS, CONTRACTS AND ENCROACHMENTS
WHEREAS, the city leases public lands, issues vendor permits for activities on
public lands, contracts with private individuals, and issues encroachment permits, each
of which exposes the city to certain liability risks; and
WHEREAS, Seward City Code ~ 7.05.510 A. 2. requires the city to secure insurance
coverage for encroachments on public lands; and
WHEREAS, city leases currently do not allow for revisions of minimum insurance
requirements to meet current industry standards; and
WHEREAS, the city's insurance brokers have recommended that, considering the
city's general exposure and current industry trends, the city require not less than one
million dollars of general liability insurance coverage from its lessees and contractors;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The minimum liability insurance required of all leases, permits,
contracts and encroachments is hereby established to be $1,000,000.00.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
13th day of June, 1994.
