CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 94-088
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROVING AN EXTENSION TO THE
JAIL CONTRACT THROUGH OCTOBER 31, 1994
WHEREAS, the state legislature reduced the FY 1995 state public safety budget; and
WHEREAS, the city contracts with the State of Alaska to manage the Seward jail; and
WHEREAS, the current contract expires June 30, 1994; and
WHEREAS, the Governor's Task Force on the Contract Jails Program has not yet
detennined what, if any, changes will be made to the standards for community jails; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Public Safety has requested a contract extension
at the current year's funding level through October 31, 1994, to give the department sufficient
time to detennine what changes might occur as a result of both the new standards and the budget
cuts;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the Extension of Contract
for Special Services, a copy of which is attached and incOlporated herein by reference, between
the city and the Alaska Department of Public Safety, for a tenn to expire October 31, 1994.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 27th
day of June, 1994.
