RESOLUTION NO. 94-207
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, DETERMINING THAT THE ANNEXATION
OF APPROXIMATELY 5,455 ACRES ALONG THE SEWARD MERIDIAN /
VALLEY IS IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST AND DIRECTING THE CITY/'
ADMINISTRATION TO FILE A PETITION WITH THE LOCAL /'
BOUNDARY COMMISSION /

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, has co idered the question
of the annexation of those lands generally identified as the Meridian Va y from Nash Road to
and including Bear Lake into the City of Seward; and /
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it i likely that future community
residential and commercial development will occur within t . territory, and annexation of the
territory will enable the City to plan for and control that de lopment beginning at this time; and
WHEREAS, the City Council adopted R olution No. 92-044, directing the city
administration to prepare and submit an annexati petition; however, inadequate staffing and
other work priorities precluded the petition bei submitted in a timely manner; and
WHEREAS, the positive future gr h outlook of the community continues to show a
need for city involvement in the propos annexation area;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that.
Section 1. It is in e public interest to annex those lands described in Exhibits 1 and 2,
attached and incorporat herein by reference, into the City of Seward.
Section 2. he City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to prepare a petition to
effect this anne tion in accordance with applicable Alaska Administrative Code provisions and
to file this p tion with the Local Boundary Commission for action.
ction 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 12th
day of December, 1994.
