RESOLUTION NO. 95-006
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL F THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING APP CATION FOR AND
ACCEPTANCE OF FUNDS FROM THE COPS F T PROGRAM TO HIRE
A POLICE OFFICER TO WORK IN A P ACTIVE MANNER
IN CITY NEIGHBORH DS
WHEREAS, on September 13, 1994, Presiden linton signed the Violent Crime and Law
Enforcement Act of 1994; and
WHEREAS, the COPS FAST (Com unity Oriented Policing Services Funding
Accelerated for Smaller Towns) grant program s a par of this Act; and
WHEREAS, funding for 75% of th salary and benefits of an additional police officer
is available to the City of Seward under t . program; and
WHEREAS, it is in the public i terest to apply for these available grant funds; and
WHEREAS, upon award of t e grant, the administration will seek a budget amendment
appropriating $13,605 of city funds 0 provide the city's required 25% local match;
NOW, THEREFORE, B IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, tha .
Section 1. The city, administration is hereby authorized to submit an application for
funding from the COPS F T program to cover 75% of the cost of salary and benefits for one
additional police officer r the Seward Police Department.
Section 2. Th' resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
FAILED T APPROVE by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 9th day
of January, 1995.
