RESOLUTION 99-069
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DIRECT THE
ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT TO DESIGN AND ISSUE A REQUEST
FOR PROPOSAL TO CONSTRUCT A SEWAGE DUMP STATION ON THE
WEST SIDE OF BALLAINE BLVD. , JUST NORTH OF THE "B" STREET
EXTENSION, WHICH CAN ACCOMMODATE AT LEAST TWO
RV/CAMPER UNITS AT ONE TIME AND HAVE ENOUGH AVAILABLE
PAVED AREA TO PREVENT WAITING UNITS FROM CREATING
TRAFFIC PROBLEMS.
WHEREAS, the City of Seward currently owns and operates a RV/Camper sewage dump
station (SDS) at no cost to the users in the Small Boat Harbor on Fourth Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the current site is unsuitable as to location and traffic flow; and
WHEREAS, there are numerous sites in the City which could be utilized as a new SDS site;
and
WHEREAS, a grant of $26,000 is available to the Parks & Recreation Department to
construct a new SDS; and
WHEREAS, the Engineering Department has recommended a new SDS be constructed on
the west side ofBallaine Blvd., just north of the of"B" street extended; and
WHEREAS, water and sewer are available at this site, it is convenient for users, and it will
have little or no impact on adjacent properties; and
WHEREAS, the engineering department has requested permission to issue a request for
proposal to design and construct this new SDS.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to direct the Engineering Department to issue a
request for proposals to design and construct a new sewage dump station adjacent to Ballaine Blvd.,
on the west side, just north of "B" street, and utilize the Parks & Recreation grant of $26,000 to
fund the project.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
