CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 95-010
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, ACCEPTING AND APPROPRIATING GRANT
FUNDS FROM THE ALASKA STATE TROOPERS FOR THE
"ACCIDENT FREE DAYS" PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Alaska State Troopers have received a grant from the Alaska
Highway Safety Planning Agency to initiate a traffic safety program known as "Accident
Free Days"; and
WHEREAS, the goal of the program is to reduce injuries and deaths caused by
traffic accidents; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department has agreed to assign extra officers to work
traffic enforcement exclusively on the date specified as Accident Free Day; and
WHEREAS, in addition, the Police Department will provide traffic enforcement
statistics to the Troopers, and the grant funds will pay for the overtime that will be
worked to implement the program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. Grant funds totalling $1,408.32 are hereby accepted from the Alaska
State Troopers to be used to pay overtime worked at traffic law enforcement on Accident
Free Days.
Section 2. The sum of $1,408.32 is hereby appropriated from the Police Grant
Fund, Grant Revenue Account No. 293-2932-4680-0200 to Overtime Account No. 293-2932-
5020.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
13th day of February, 1995.
