RESOLUTION NO. 95-017
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROVING THE PRE-QUALIFICATION
OF CONTRACTORS FOR PHASE II OF THE 115kV
ELECTRICAL TRANSMISSION LINE
WHEREAS, a request for contractors to pre-qualify to bid on construction of Phase II
of the 115k V electrical transmission line was properly advertised; and
WHEREAS, in order to be considered as qualified to bid on the project, the contractor
must be experienced, have the resources and financing to perform the work, be licensed in the
State of Alaska and maintain an office in Alaska where business and contract matters may be
conducted; and
WHEREAS, in addition, the contractor and its subcontractors must be a party to an
appropriate current labor agreement with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers
(IBEW) that will insure that work traditionally performed by employees represented by IBEW,
local 1547, is performed by such employees; and
WHEREAS, four firms, Newbery Alaska, Inc.; Alcan Electrical & Engineering, Inc.;
Norcon, Inc.; and City Electric, Inc., responded and were found to be qualified to bid on the
project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. Four firms are pre-qualified to bid on Phase II of the 115 kV Electrical
Transmission Line Project as follows: A1can Electrical & Engineering, Inc., City Electric, Inc.,
Newbery Alaska, Inc. and Norcon, Inc.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 27th
day of February, 1995.
