RESOLUTION 99-071
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, EXTENDING A CONTRACT FOR EIGHTEEN MONTHS
WITH MERRITT ENTERPRISES FOR CUSTODIAL SERVICES AT
THE TEEN AND YOUTH CENTER AND THE ALASKA VOCA-
TIONAL TECHNICAL AND EDUCATIONAL CENTER
WHEREAS, the City of Seward had properly advertised a request for bids to provide
custodial services at the Alaska Vocational and Technical and Educational Center (A VTEC)
Student Services Center and at the Teen and Youth Center and Judy Merritt, d.b.a. Merritt
Enterprises, submitted the low bid and was awarded a one year contract with the passage of
Resolution 97-029; and
WHEREAS, Merritt Enterprises has performed custodial duties and provided quality
service for the past two years and was awarded a one-year extension last year with the passage of
Resolution 98-029; and
WHEREAS, an eighteen month extension is recommended for the six-month fiscal year
and next FY 2000; and
WHEREAS, Merritt Enterprises has requested a 10% increase, and the parks and
recreation department recommends this increase based upon their quality service;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into the attached 18 month
contract, expiring December 31, 2000, with Merritt Enterprises to provide custodial services for
the Parks and Recreation Department off site locations at the Alaska Vocational and Educational
Center and the Teen and Youth Center.
Section 2.
This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 14
day ofJune, 1999.
