CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 99-073
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE
ORDER TO ALTEC FOR AN AMOUNT NOT-TO-EXCEED $50,000 TO
REPAIR THE ELECTRIC DEPARTMENT BUCKET TRUCK
WHEREAS, the annual inspection of equipment in the Electric Department found severe
mechanical problems which require repair before the unit can be certified as safe to operate; and
WHEREAS, the services required can only be furnished by a single dealer, thereby
exempting this purchase from the competitive procurement procedures described in Seward City
Code, Chapter 6.10, pursuant to Section 6. 10. 120(A)(5); and
WHEREAS, the work must be done at the Altec factory in Portland, Oregon; and
WHEREAS, an estimate is included in this packet that approximates the costs of repairs at
$46,412, an actual amount will be determined after factory inspection and approval by the Manager
of Engineering & Utilities of work to be performed and the price for such work; and
WHEREAS, a replacement unit would cost around $250,000;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Council authorizes the City Manager to issue a purchase order to Altec
for an amount not-to-exceed $50,000 to repair vehicle #105, Electric Department Bucket Truck, and
to appropriate the money from the Electric Department Maintenance Replacement, and Repair Fund
fund 502-0000-3050 to Maintenance Replacement, and Repair Fund fund 502-5020-5380.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council ofthe City of Seward, Alaska, this 14 day
of June,1999.
