CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 94-134
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT TO
SWENSON CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR HANDICAP ACCESS
RENOVATIONS TO THE SEWARD PUBLIC LIBRARY
WHEREAS, a request for bids to construct handicap access to the rear of the
Seward Community Library was properly advertisedj and
WHEREAS, the sole bidder, Swenson Construction Company, submitted a bid in
excess of the amount budgeted for the projectj and
WHEREAS, the city negotiated a price reduction by substituting concrete blocks
for a poured wall, deletion of the requirement for a payment/performance bond, and
providing for excavation by city creWSj and
WHEREAS, in April, 1994, the City Council approved Resolution No. 94-049.
accepting a Library Construction Grant totalling $60,000 and appropriating those funds
to capital Project Account No. 218-2180 for the purpose of providing handicap access to
the libraryj
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to award a contract to Swenson
Construction Company in an amount not to exceed $58,900 to construct handicap access
to the rear of the Seward Community Library.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
25th day of July, 1994.
