CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 94-139
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROPRIATING FUNDS TO THE SEWARD
CORRECTIONAL CENTER FY 1995 BUDGET FOR SALARY
UPGRADES FOR CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS
WHEREAS, on June 13, 1994, the City Council approved Resolution No. 94-075.
reclassifying employees in the Seward Correctional Center; and
WHEREAS, while it was the intent of the administration to make these
reclassifications contingent upon receiving increased state funding for the correctional
center, the resolution presented to the Council at that time did not so state; and
WHEREAS, because the city had not yet received increased funding from the
state, the administration opted to defer implementation of the reclassification of the
corrections employees; and
WHEREAS, the administration has learned that it does not have the authority to
defer Council-approved reclassifications without specific instructions to do so from the
City Council; and
WHEREAS, to implement the approved reclassifications effect July 1, 1994, will
require a supplemental appropriation from the General Fund Fund Balance of $28,776;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The sum of $28,776 is hereby appropriated from the General Fund
Fund Balance Account No. 301-3070 to fund the Seward Correctional Center FY 1995
budget.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby instructed to immediately implement the
reclassification of corrections employees effective July 1, 1994, as set forth in City of
Seward Resolution No. 94-075.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
25th day of July, 1994.
