CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 94-166
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
AWARD A CONTRACT TO AFOGNAK LOGGING TO PROVIDE WINTER
SAND AND SALT AND TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER TO VAN
WATER & ROGERS FOR THE PURCHASE OF ADDITIONAL
SALT AND CALCIUM CHLORIDE
WHEREAS, the city properly advertised a request for proposals to provide winter
street sand, coarse salt and calcium chloride pellets; and
WHEREAS, four firms responded to the request for proposals; and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to authorize the purchase of these materials
from the two low bidders, Afognak Logging and Van Water & Rogers;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to award a contract to Afognak
Logging to provide winter street sand and 60,000 pounds of salt in I-ton bags for an
amount not to exceed $15,690.
Section 2. The City Manager is further authorized to issue a purchase order to
Van Water & Rogers for the purchase of 2,700 pounds of salt in 50-pound bags and
22,600 pounds of calcium chloride in 80-pound bags for a total amount of $4,786.40.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
12th day of September, 1994.
